Singapore Airlines’ South Africa team recently welcomed its new Johannesburg-based GM Central and Southern Africa.
Dale Woodhouse has arrived after a four-and-a-half-year stint in Italy and, prior to that, time spent in Singapore, after a tour of duty heading up Australia.
Woodhouse says he sees his region as a place with a lot of possibilities. He is in charge of 29 countries, only one of them, South Africa, with on-line services.
“The region is doing well, but there is lots of future potential to increase our footprint, working with SAA (a fellow Star Alliance member) and Airlink under our SPAs (Special Prorate Agreements).
“The South African and Southern African markets are very important to the airline. They bring lots of traffic related to commerce. There is also a great deal of potential for more inbound tourism, which is a large, important part of our traffic mix. And South Africa is one of the most attractive destinations!”
