A number of airlines and hotels are offering their Muslim travellers Iftar dinners and Suhoor breakfasts during the holy month of Ramadan.
Emirates
Emirates is providing its Muslim travellers with various Ramadan options, such as Iftar meal boxes at boarding gates, Arabic sweetmeat boxes at its Dubai lounge, and a traditional curated Iftar menu for business and first-class passengers.
The Iftar meal boxes are available to all classes and contain a range of light bites and sweet treats. The airline’s menus offer a selection of hot and cold Arabic mezze.
Emirates uses a tool to calculate the correct timings for passengers to break and commence fasting allowing captains to inform passengers when Iftar and Suhoor begin and end.
Etihad
Etihad’s lounges in Abu Dhabi, New York, Washington D.C., and London Heathrow are offering passengers meals to break their fast, including soup, ravioli, curry, and dessert.
Economy and premium economy passengers can also break their fast on board Etihad flights with a range of menu options or on-the-go Iftar bags with laban, water and dates.
City Lodge Hotels
Although City Lodge Hotels is not strictly halaal, Courtyard Hotel, City Lodge Hotel, Town Lodge, and Road Lodge will cater for their Muslim guests with Suhoor breakfast trays.
The Suhoor breakfast tray is R150 per person at Courtyard Hotels, City Lodge Hotels and Town Lodges, and R110 at Road Lodges. It comprises muesli, yoghurt, fresh and dried fruit, fruit juice, a snack bar and a filled croissant.
