THE Australian High
Commission has let
agents know that visas
are taking around 45 days.
It has set out guidelines for
applications.
When lodging
When lodging an application
for families or groups
travelling together, the
Commission advises
agents to ensure that the
applications for each member
of the group are linked.
Applicants for children under
18 must complete and upload
form 1229, with relevant
support documents: IDs for
both parents/guardians, full
birth certificate of child, and
more as stipulated.
All over 75s are required
to provide evidence of travel
insurance that covers their
entire stay in Australia.
Documentation covering
incentive to return, ability to
cover all costs, employment
confirmations, insurances etc.
must be submitted. Agents
should also take note that the
processing staff can refuse
an application on first sight if
documentation is missing or
biometrics have not been done
in the required time frame.
After lodgement
After lodgement, applicant
biometrics must be done. If no
biometric request letter has
been received within a day of
lodgement, it asks that agents
contact the Commission.
If additional information
is requested from the
Commission, agents are
advised not to email the
Commission, but to upload it
all to ImmiAccount.
Communication
Agents are advised to use the
Australian Embassy website,
where urgent messages and
new information are uploaded.
Repeat follow-up emails
slow down processing. If a
client has applied online and
their passport details have
changed, they can update
the information through
ImmiAccount. If this method
is not possible for the client,
they will need to complete
form 929 and email it to
929@homeaffairs.gov.au.
Auto-response is
considered an official
response to an enquiry and
contains information and
links that can help answer
applicants’ questions.

The Commission has several
