In the wake of British Airways’ abrupt overhaul of its loyalty programme, Virgin Atlantic has launched a limited status match offer for its loyalty programme, Flying Club.
The loyalty status match programme allows customers in the top tiers of loyalty programmes of airlines, including SAA, British Airways, Lufthansa, United Airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and more, to receive the equivalent status in Flying Club.
Customers can either be matched to Flying Club’s Gold or Silver tier, however the offer has conditions:
- To become Flying Club Gold, customers need to have a future revenue or redemption flight booked with Virgin Atlantic or one of its codeshare partners in either Premium or Upper Class.
- Those matching Silver must have a future revenue or redemption flight booked with Virgin Atlantic or one of its codeshare partners in any cabin class.
Flying Club Silver members receive the following benefits:
- 30% bonus points on every flight
- Free seat selection ahead of the flight in economy class
- Extra hold baggage
- Premium check-in when flying in any cabin
- Tier renewal bonus
- Member benefits with Virgin Hotels
Flying Club Gold members receive the following benefits:
- 60% bonus points on every flight
- Gold Reward Seat up to eight sectors per membership year
- Guaranteed Economy Class (Y) seat
- Free seat selection ahead of the flight in Economy Light
- Free preferred seat selection ahead of the flight in Premium
- Upper Class check-in when flying in any cabin
- Clubhouse access when flying in any cabin for the member and one guest
- Access to London-Heathrow Revivals Lounge
- 2 000 bonus birthday points
- Complimentary companion ticket upon yearly renewal of Gold tier
- Clubhouse passes for the member to keep or share when they earn 1 500 Tier Points within a membership year
- Cabin Upgrade Reward when the member earns 2 000 Tier Points within a membership year
- Ability to gift Silver Elite status to a friend
