BIDTRAVEL flagship, Rennies
Travel, has merged with BCD
Travel’s long-time joint-venture
partner in South Africa, Connex
Travel.
The merged agency will operate
as Rennies BCD Travel, which
will result in a total workforce
of 737 employees.
Earlier this year, Rennies Travel
announced that it had joined
BCD’s global network (see TNW
January 30). The brand was
previously aligned with Hogg
Robinson Group (HRG). In July
2018, American Express Global
Business Travel (operated by
Tourvest Travel services in the SA
market) acquired HRG.
Rennies BCD Travel will be
led by ceo, Bronwyn Philipps,
who previously served as ceo of
Rennies Travel. Former Connex
Travel ceo, Marco Cristofoli, will
remain a member of the senior
leadership team.
“This merger enables us to
benefit from Rennies’ sizeable
presence in Southern Africa,
allowing us to expand our footprint
beyond the South African market,”
said Marco.
