Now that Qatar Airways Group and Virgin Australia have received approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for the airlines’ integrated alliance, the carriers are set to launch 28 weekly flights between Australia and Doha.
The partnership will facilitate the Australian carrier’s re-entry into long-haul international flying as it commences flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to Doha from June and Melbourne to Doha from December. It will use aircraft wet-leased from Qatar Airways.
The flights will improve connections for more than 100 itineraries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The announcement follows the Australian Government’s approval of Qatar Airways Group’s 25% minority stake in Virgin Australia in February 2025.
