With just under two months to go until the FIFA World Cup, to be held in five cities across Qatar, the Middle Eastern nation has rescinded its mandatory quarantine requirement for all visitors. Qatar is expecting nearly 1,5 million visitors when it hosts the championships from November 20 to December 18.
Until now, those coming from any of the countries on Qatar’s ‘red list’ were subject to quarantine on arrival. This applied to Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Sri Lanka.
Arrivals must still, however, show proof of a negative PCR test result obtained no more than 48 hours before departure for Qatar, or a rapid antigen test within the 24 hours before departure. Self-tests are not accepted.
Visitors must also install the Ehteraz mobile app within three days before arrival. The app will grant access to public facilities by registering the user’s health status as ‘Green’.
All foreigners travelling to Qatar from November 1, whether for FIFA World Cup or not, will be required to acquire a Hayya Card to enter the country.
