Next month, AVIAREPS – the GSA in South Africa for German airline, Condor – will officially launch Condor’s direct flights between Frankfurt and Johannesburg, starting November 4.
A spokesperson for AVIAREPS told Travel News that these seasonal flights might become year-round, subject to global support on the route.
The route will supplement Condor's seasonal Cape Town flights during the Northern hemisphere winter season.
AVIAREPS confirmed that the Cape Town-Frankfurt flights would initially be offered twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) between October 8 and October 29. From November 2 to April 30, there will be three weekly flights from Cape Town on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The Johannesburg to Frankfurt route starts on Saturday, November 5 (leaves Frankfurt November 4) and will be offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Bookings are currently open and on GDS plated on 881. Airfares are as per global standards.
Acsa has welcomed Condor Airlines’ decision to operate direct flights between Frankfurt and Johannesburg, said Charles Shilowa, Acsa Group Executive: Strategy and Sustainability in a statement.
“The new direct flights will add much-needed traffic from Europe to South Africa, helping to reignite the tourism sector, a key driver of economic activity and job creation in the country," he said.
