AUSTRIAN Airlines is to
return to Cape Town in
October after recording
a satisfactory inaugural
season on the ViennaCape Town route, says
spokesperson, Tanja
Gruber.
The new flight was well
received and its low entry
prices make it attractive for
South African customers,
says André Schulz,
Lufthansa Group gm
Southern Africa.
Austrian Airlines
completes its first seasonal
service to Cape Town at the
end of March after flying
twice weekly VIE-CPT since
October with a B777. “We
are very satisfied with our
Cape Town bookings,” Tanja
told TNW. “Business class
and premium economy have
booked very well. During the
last weeks of the holidays in
Austria our economy class
performed quite well too.
There is still capacity in
economy class, especially
on flights from Cape Town
to Vienna, but we’ll be back
next October to work on
that,” she said.
Lufthansa Group business
continues to perform well in
SA, says André. In addition
to a successful JNB route,
Lufthansa’s Munich-Cape
Town service has received
particular market attention
due to the use of a modern
A350. “Customers are
enthusiastic about the new
product and the profitability
of the route is developing
very positively due to the
A350,” he says. In total, the
group currently offers 30
weekly frequencies to South
Africa.
