London Heathrow resumed flights late on Friday, March 21, after a fire knocked out an electrical substation supplying the airport, effectively shutting the airport for the day, as reported by Travel News.
The airport had been due to handle 1 351 flights on Friday, flying up to 291 000 passengers, but aircraft were diverted to other airports in Britain and across Europe, while many long-haul flights returned to their point of departure, reports Reuters.
The airport announced that it welcomed more than 250 000 passengers on Saturday, March 22, with punctual departures and security queues under five minutes for nearly all flights.
