Gacek, the stray black-and-white cat who was named Szczecin’s top-rated tourist attraction and given five stars on Google Maps early this year, has a forever home. He is also now the face of ‘Gacek buys food for the homeless’ – his very own philanthropic crowdfunding initiative to help feed homeless animals.
After months of being showered with snacks, Gacek was facing health issues such as teeth and joint problems and was five kilograms overweight. Szczecin’s Animal Welfare Association (TOZ) urged tourists to donate food to the animal shelter rather than continuing to overfeed the feline influencer.
Despite public opposition, TOZ treated Gacek’s health issues and assisted him with losing weight before finding him a home with a loving family. The shelter posted pictures of his healthy transformation and announced his new family’s name for him.
“From now on, call me George… George Clooney, the cat version, yes, that’s the new me,” it read. “I’m fit and I feel good about it. I run up the stairs, and jump on countertops.”
