THE Asata Professional
Programme (APP) is
being rolled out, with
the accreditation website
currently undergoing testing.
The website is expected to
open for registrations by the
end of March.
The programme allows
qualifying agents to get
designations such as travel
practitioner and travel
professional. For these
designations, consultants
can capture their skills on
the website, which are then
verified by a line manager.
The project is spearheaded
by Monique Diez, although
her predecessor, Jacqui
McKnight, also did
extensive work on the
project.
Monique says later this
year a certified travel
professional designation
will be available, where
consultants will need to
complete a curriculum
followed by an assessment.
The curriculum will be put
together in consultation with
training providers
The Australian standard
is for 40% of consultants
within an organisation to be
designated, while Asata is
hoping to achieve a much
greater level of designation.
The association has
been accredited by the
South African Qualifications
Authority to grant
designations. Association
members will pay R340
and an annual fee of
R175, while non-members
will pay R590 and R295
respectively.
