The Winston Hotel in Rosebank is undergoing extensive renovations and is scheduled to reopen later this year as the Park Hyatt Johannesburg.
The Winston has been well- known for its elegant and stylish classic design and its location in the quiet and leafy streets of upper Rosebank. Ther property was acquired in 2022 by the Farooqui family’s private equity investment company, Millat.
The ultra-luxury five-star hotel will only have 31 rooms, each equipped with a king-size bed and a work station. The hotel will feature a restaurant and bar, a dining room, an outdoor terrace and event spaces for conferences and meetings up to 60 guests.
Yabu Pushelberg, a design firm that previously worked on Park Hyatt New York, Park Hyatt Shenzhen, and Park Hyatt Bangkok, is overseeing the renovations.
The hotel is not yet open for bookings.
The Park Hyatt Rosebank is believed to be the fourth collaboration between Hyatt and the Millat Group in South Africa, the others being Hyatt House Johannesburg Rosebank, Hyatt Regency Cape Town and Hyatt House Johannesburg Sandton.
Hyatt’s Africa portfolio comprises 13 properties in total, including the super-luxe Park Hyatt Zanzibar.
