A spokesperson from
Travelport explains that
more airlines are introducing
‘unbundled’ fares. On
Travelport, when performing
a basic fare entry for Fare
Shopper or Best Buy fares,
the system will automatically
quote the cheapest fare
available for the class of
travel booked, which may
be an unbundled fare. To
address this, there are
modifiers that agents can
apply to include or exclude
specific requirements.
“Agents have the ability
to search for bundled or
unbundled fares and can
use Travelport Smartpoint
to easily identify inclusions
and exclusions for each fare
by displaying the branded
fare information,” the
spokesperson said.
On Amadeus, a Best Buy
search automatically gives
agents upsell options that
have been excluded from
that fare class, says Jannine
Adams, senior marketing and
communication manager.
“Baggage inclusion is listed
in the fare option. Agents
also have the option to
click on fare notes, which
provide further details about
inclusions and exclusions for
that fare class.”
