G Adventures has launched its first small group tours to Pakistan from June and July this year.
The three new itineraries include hiking experiences and cultural interactions to help bring tourism income to local communities.
On the 11-day trip, visitors will travel from the capital city, Islamabad, to Lahore via the Baltistan Mountains and the Thallay La Trail. The trip includes hikes to mountain villages, a night in Shigar Fort (now a luxury hotel) and the opportunity to meet local artists in Islamabad’s truck art workshops.
On the shorter nine-day trip, travellers do not visit Lahore but instead spend more time in Islamabad and on the Thallay La Trail.
Both itineraries depart from July 1.
The third option is a 13-day adventure through Lahore and Islamabad with departures from June 21. The itinerary includes mountain hikes and meals with local families along the way as well as cultural interactions.
