THE Northern Province town of Pietersburg has been selected to host this year's Heritage Day celebrations on September 24, the theme being 'Celebrating our Multilingualism'.
Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, Dr Ben Ngubane, said the Northern Province had been specifically chosen because many of South Africa's marginalised languages were spoken there.
The function will be held at the Pietersburg Rugby Stadium and proceedings start at 10h00.
Apart from an official programme in which the Deputy President, Jacob Zuma and Dr Ngubane will participate, a cultural programme aimed at promoting multilingualism has also been arranged.
