Uber will introduce 200 BYD electric vehicles (EVs) in South Africa, starting with a pilot programme in Johannesburg in 2025.
In July this year, Uber announced that it would be rolling out 100 000 new BYD electric vehicles onto its platform in key markets worldwide.
BYD is a Chinese-owned electric vehicle manufacturing company that has maintained a presence in South Africa for over a year now, according to News24.
The company competes with other prominent electric vehicle manufacturers such as Tesla.
