After closing its doors for eight weeks during lockdown, Word Leisure Holidays (WLH) will reopen its head office in Randburg on June 17, ready to take bookings.
“We have received some interest from travel agents looking for quotations and wanted to establish a sense of normality by allowing staff the opportunity to come in to work,” WLH md, Ramesh Jeenarain, told Travel News.
As international travel is prohibited under SA’s level 3 lockdown, the tour operator’s focus will be attending to enquiries for travel in late 2020 or in 2021, as well as to assist with postponements and re-bookings. Ramesh says WLH has already had a few clients looking at booking for future travel to Mauritius, following the island’s classification as a COVID-19-free destination by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
“Amidst all the negative news, which we find ourselves entangled in, we need to march on and look forward with optimism. We believe that the borders will reopen and people will travel again. We know it will be a slow start – but let us start somewhere,” says Ramesh.
