Thompsons Africa has introduced a 16-day package that takes in Cape Town, Zambia and Botswana under its Luxury Collection brand: the ‘Africa’s Wildest Dreams’ package.
Guests are welcomed in Cape Town before a luxury transfer to the Cape Grace, where they spend four nights. Each of the hotel’s rooms is uniquely decorated and inspired by Cape Town’s rich heritage and unique floral kingdom. Guests can relax in its African-inspired spa and enjoy Cape cosmopolitan cuisine. Highlights include a private luxury full-day Winelands Tour and Helicopter Atlantico Tour.
Day five takes them by luxury Land Rover to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, situated on fynbos and forest-clad hills, overlooking the whale-watching haven of Walker Bay. Two nights are spent at the reserve, which is home to more than 760 plant species and offers ocean and mountain vistas. Optional add-on activities include a wine tour, whale-watching experience and shark cage diving.
On day eight, guests fly to Johannesburg and spend the night, before departing for Livingstone. They transfer to Toka Leya Camp where they enjoy two nights of luxurious riverside accommodation on the banks of the Zambezi River, with game drives and walks in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
On day 11, guests cross into Botswana and transfer to Kasane Airport for a light aircraft flight to spend the next three nights at Jacks Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans. In the dry season it’s possible to get up close and personal with some of the Kalahari’s meerkat families, discovering how they interact with each other and their environment. Other activities include a visit to a remote cattle-post to learn about the traditional culture of the Botswanan people and combing the edge of the extinct lakeshore to find stone tools and fossils and learn of the origins of early man. In both dry and green seasons, guests can enjoy game activities in search of unique desert species and, in green season, guests spend a full day in the Makgadikgadi National Park to witness the zebra and wildebeest migration.
Day 13 sees guests depart by light aircraft and transfer to luxury tented Machaba Camp in the game-rich Khwai area of the Okavango Delta for three nights. Game activities include game drives, game walks and mokoro rides. On the last day, guests fly to Maun Airport, where the tour ends.
