Ethiopian Airlines and the South Sudanese government have introduced plans to establish a national carrier for South Sudan.
An MoU was signed earlier this month, by Ethiopian Ambassador Nabil Mahdi and South Sudan’s Transport Minister, Madut Biar.
The partnership offers Ethiopian a management deal to establish and operate a South Sudanese national carrier under the Vision 2025 plan, which aims to establish multiple hubs across Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines has successfully created joint ventures with ASKY Airlines, Air Congo, Zambia Airways, and Air Malawi.
In addition to establishing the national carrier, Ethiopian will provide South Sudan with crucial technical support, training and operational management. Additionally, Ethiopian will manage South Sudan’s airspace which is shifting from Sudanese control, reports travelradar.aero.
