On June 3, All Nippon Airways (ANA) showcased its new Pikachu jet, a special Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and took it on its inaugural flight to Bangkok the next day.
The livery for Asia’s sixth Pokémon-themed aircraft registered JA894Q, painted and completed in Taipei, was revealed at an ANA hangar at Tokyo Haneda International Airport, reports Simple Flying.
Airline executives and cabin crew attended the event featuring Pokémon character Pikachu.
Legendary sky-high Pokémon Rayquaza has been painted across the entire widebody fuselage, giving the impression that it is flying. With it are fellow companions Charizard, legendaries Latios and Latias, Rowlet, Vivillion, Pikachu and other air-type Pokemon.
As each livery demonstrates a theme, the new Pikachu jet signifies shining rays of hope and countless opportunities within an interconnected world full of fun and wonder.
At the inaugural flight, passengers were welcomed with special boarding music at the gate and received commemorative gifts, while cabin crew dressed in Pokémon-themed uniforms greeted them on board.
