1. An old Ethiopian Airlines aircraft was bought on auction and turned into a café in Burayu, in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The wings had to be removed for it to be transported to its new location and the café is now famous for its home-made honey wine.
2. A 1943 South Pacific Airlines DC-3 stood next to a McDonald’s restaurant in New Zealand for over 20 years. The fast food brand decided to refurbish it and incorporate it into their restaurant experience. Visitors to the Taupo branch can now take their meals in the cabin and view the cockpit through a glass window.
3. A school principal from Georgia, US, purchased an old aircraft and turned it into a kindergarten. He aims to encourage kids to develop technological awareness from an early age and have so much fun at school that they don’t want to go home.
