MAGDA Visser has pleaded
guilty to charges of fraud
and forex theft, totalling
R2,6m. She appeared before
the Knysna Regional Court
on March 26. She will be
sentenced on May 10 and is
currently out on bail. The case
dates back to 2013.
Magda committed the fraud
during 2011 and 2012 while
she was employed at Travelex
(formerly FX Africa Foreign
Exchange). Christo Snyman,
national director: forensic
services of Mazars, who
investigated the case, told
TNW that her modus operandi
was to steal forex from the
branch. To cover it she raised
fictitious invoices purporting
to have sold forex. When an
internal audit showed the
deficit she was investigated.
