Emirates has showcased a suite of new services and innovative products for people with disabilities at the sixth AccessAbilities Expo at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Emirates unveiled new products and creative innovations, such as the following.
Be My Eyes app
Emirates will soon be the first airline to integrate with the Be My Eyes app, offering video support to blind and low-vision customers through the Emirates Call Centre. The Emirates agent can then direct the customer on which direction to walk or what to do next.
Sensory guide for neurodivergent travellers
Emirates has launched a sensory guide for Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3, helping neurodivergent travellers understand sensory stimuli like sound and light.
Accessible chauffeur-drive service
Emirates introduced its first wheelchair-accessible chauffeur vehicle, currently available for First and Business Class customers in Dubai, with plans to extend its availability in the future.
Sign-language robot
Emirates is testing a robot that uses sign language to assist deaf and hearing-impaired travellers with flight and airport information.
VR tour
A VR tour lets customers with accessibility needs practise navigating Dubai Airport's Terminal 3. In the future, the VR tour has the potential to be integrated into emirates.com, where customers worldwide could access it in advance of their travel.
Wheelchair cube
The new Emirates wheelchair cube concept seeks to provide a solution to safely and securely transporting mobility aids and equipment. The cube solution keeps wheelchairs intact during transport and handling and can be securely restrained inside the aircraft for extra protection.
