BACK-ROADS Touring
has opened bookings
for its new range of
North American itineraries,
to be launched next year,
including California, New
England and New Orleans.
The company has a
‘no motorway’ promise
and gives guests a more
experiential holiday, using
only district and country
roads. With no more than
20 people in a minibus,
guests are able to immerse
themselves in their
destinations with history,
food and leisure being
the focus of these tours.
Guests stay in boutique
guesthouses and villas in
small towns.
Roland Muller, marketing
manager of Development
Promotions, which
represents the company in
SA, says popular itineraries
include Tuscan Treats, a
cooking tour in Italy where
guests learn to cook pasta
and pizza in restaurants
in the region, and Corners
of Cornwall, where guests
can visit The Seafood
Restaurant, a popular eatery
in Padstow.
“This product is not
for first-time travellers,
but for well-travelled
individuals looking for
unique experiences,” Roland
says. “While this is a new
product, we have received
a lot of interest from South
Africans.”
