Airlink’s flights between Johannesburg and Maseru have been reinstated after being temporarily suspended due to the unavailability of fire and rescue services and equipment at Mashoeshoe I International Airport.
Lesotho Transport Minister Matjato Moteane said on social media that the airport was closed to all incoming traffic on December 3 as none of the airport’s fire engines was operational, because they had not been serviced properly.
“As a standard provision, one needs a minimum of two operational fire trucks to service Airlink flights and other incoming traffic,” the minister explained.
The service has resumed its normal schedule with effect from today (December 5).
