The Ministry of Tourism, with SAA as part of its delegation, is engaging with Indian aviation leaders to explore the reintroduction of direct flights between India and South Africa.
Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, who is leading the delegation currently touring India, will meet with airlines, such as India Air, Indigo and Spice Jet, to persuade them to launch direct flights between India and South Africa, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement on December 3.
The last direct flights from South Africa to India were operated by SAA and discontinued in 2015, Acsa’s Acting Group Manager for Traffic Development, Mpho Rambau, told Travel News in May this year.
