Air France-KLM has signed a codeshare with Airlink, effective December 3.
The codeshare will enhance connectivity for travellers, offering Air France-KLM passengers access to 14 domestic destinations served by Airlink.
Subject to approval by the relevant authorities, the carriers plan to expand the codeshare in the future to destinations such as Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, St Helena, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Air France and KLM currently operate 14 weekly flights to both Johannesburg and Cape Town from their hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol.
Under the new agreement, members of Flying Blue, Air France-KLM’s loyalty programme, will be able to earn miles on Air France and KLM-marketed flights operated by Airlink.
“Our long-standing commercial interline arrangement with Air France-KLM has created a solid foundation on which to build a more committed relationship with this codeshare,” said Rodger Foster, CEO and MD of Airlink. “It is a crucial relationship as both Air France and KLM provide extensive reach into many of Airlink’s key source markets in Europe and beyond. Importantly, they both operate direct services to Airlink’s Johannesburg and Cape Town hubs.”
