New codeshare opens Mexico for Virgin pax
VIRGIN Atlantic has signed a codeshare agreement with
AeroMexico, creating seamless connections between the UK,
USA and Mexico. The agreement allows passengers to fly direct
from Heathrow to Mexico City, as well as opening up a number
of destinations to Virgin passengers within Mexico. Virgin’s
destinations in North America can now also be booked with
AeroMexico. Customers booking the new codeshare routes will be
able to connect between both airlines with one booking reference
and check-in.
Delta to launch non-stop Mexico service
DELTA Air Lines, in conjunction with its partner AeroMexico, will
begin a new non-stop service between Minneapolis-St Paul and
Mexico City starting June 8.
Emirates simplifies name correction procedure
EMIRATES has simplified its name correction procedure and has
reduced the fee from $50 (R695) to $30 (R417). Customers are
also required to issue an EMD of $20 (R278) to cover the name
change admin fee, which is mandatory for all name changes.
Virgin increases ASA fare
VIRGIN Atlantic has announced an increased fare for its Advance
Seating Assignment (ASA). Passengers travelling in Economy
Classic or Economy Light on the upper deck of the airline’s B747
aircraft will now be charged £35 (R622) each way. Agents will
be able to assign seating at the time of booking for passengers
travelling in Upper Class, Premium or fully flexible Y and B
booking classes in Economy.
Air France – drop bags and go
AIR France now offers passengers the ability to check in their
baggage at Paris’s Gare du Nord station, when heading to
Charles de Gaulle Airport. On arrival at the airport, customers
can then head straight to the boarding gate. The airline has
also introduced Family Updates on WhatsApp, a new service
that allows passengers to start a WhatsApp group with friends
and family.
Australian airlines enforce strict baggage rules
PASSENGERS travelling through Australian airports should expect
to have their carry-on bags weighed at various points in their
journey, including at the check-in desk and the boarding gate,
to ensure compliance with the 7kg limit. Passengers with bags
weighing more than 7kg will have to store them in the cargo hold
with other checked luggage.
