Lufthansa has taken a 10% minority stake in Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, building on an existing wet-lease agreement between the two companies.
The deal, valued at €14 million (R271,7m), also grants Lufthansa Group a seat on airBaltic’s Supervisory Board.
By expanding their co-operation, Lufthansa Group aims to enhance its network quality and explore new markets. Additionally, further development of wet-lease services is planned to meet customer expectations.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year, pending antitrust approval.
