Hong Kong has announced plans to increase its Air Passenger Departure Tax (APDT) from HKD120 (R280) to HKD200 (R465).
The new tax applies to tickets purchased on or after October 1.
Travellers exempt from paying the tax include children under 12 years of age, direct transit passengers, those on connecting flights, and anyone arriving and departing Hong Kong by air on the same day.
The APDT was last increased more than 20 years ago.
