Hotels have become innovators. A great example of this, bringing superb musical entertainment to a tranquil riverside hotel, the Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club has announced weekly theatre productions, as a permanent feature.
The shows are held at the hotel’s new Dinner Theatre and run every Wednesday night, before running on Friday nights from October.
“We wanted the venue to remain intimate to create an authentic dinner theatre atmosphere,” explains Daniel Tharratt, GM and Director of Riviera on Vaal Resort & Country Club. “To obtain that, we have refurbished it to accommodate a maximum of 60 guests. Exciting menus are planned with Middelvlei and Riebeek wines.”
The first production, Just Vinyl, featured performances by singers Monique Steyn, Anton Botha, and Maryke de Kooker.
Tickets are R350 per person and include a buffet prepared by Chef Patrick Moirwagale and the show. The Riviera on Vaal is just 45 minutes from Johannesburg.
Looking ahead: adapting to a new normal
Renovations and improvements to the property have been ongoing for some time now and are almost complete.
“There are extremely exciting things on the cards for the hotel, especially on the golf front. Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club partnered with the Big Easy IGT Tours and the Pro-Am is taking place from September 17-19, followed by the Big Easy Road to #15 from September 20-22,” Eben Lassen, Director of thefinecollection.co, told Travel News. “This Pro-Am event has been secured for the next five years with Riviera and Big Easy IGT Tours.
“We are very optimistic about recovery of the industry, knowing that it may very well be different from before with new procedures, expectations, and new travellers’ requirements,” Lassen added. “But recover it will – the industry may just have to shift its idea of what recovery will look like.”
