Global mobility platform, DiDi, will launch its services in Cape Town on May 17, following a successful pilot launch in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) on March 1.
DiDi provides a digital app that enables riders to connect with drivers to get where they need to go.
“We are proud to confirm our launch in Cape Town. The pandemic has posed a huge challenge for users who need to get around, on entrepreneurs, and even on the government. We firmly believe that our service will make a difference. That’s why it is the ideal time to launch in Cape Town,” said Ken Liu, DiDi Launch Lead in South Africa.
DiDi offers three services on the platform:
DiDi GO: The low-cost option but with the same high safety standards DiDi is known for.
DiDi EXPRESS: The company's standard service for those seeking a balance between price and comfort.
DiDi XL: DiDi XL is ideal for those who need more space (with a capacity of up to seven seats).
