Following the wildfires in Los Angeles, outbound travel experts have confirmed that there has been little impact on SA travellers. Dharmesh Kooverjee, CEO of Travel Vision, confirmed that the majority of SA travel to the US focused on the East Coast, and no cancellations had been reported so far.
“Furthermore, the LA fires have not resulted in any changes to flights that have been booked,” said Kooverjee.
While some tourist attractions and hotels in the region have temporarily closed, including the Getty Villa, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and Universal Studios Hollywood, flights to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) remain unaffected.
Cruise lines offer flexible cancellations for January
Cruise lines have announced measures to accommodate passengers departing from the Port of Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires.
Princess Cruises has waived cancellation fees for passengers booked on voyages departing from Los Angeles this month. The cruise line is also providing refunds for pre-purchased additional items, such as shore excursions.
