PREMIER Hotels &
Resorts has announced
the transfer of the Faircity
Hotel Group and its
assets and management
contracts. The news of
the deal was initially
announced in April.
The Faircity Group
consists of three- and
four-star conference hotels
and serviced apartments
in Gauteng, including the
Falstaff and Quatermain in
Morningside, Mapungubwe
in Johannesburg’s inner
city, Roodevalley and
Kievitskroon near Pretoria,
and Grosvenor Gardens
Apartments in Pretoria.
Mark Jakins, Group
Sales, Revenue and
Marketing director told
TNW that this acquisition
meant Premier was able
to expand its footprint for
government, corporate
and leisure travel as well
as the conference sector.
He adds: “Premier will
continue to investigate
hotel and resort
opportunities in other cities
and towns where we still
don’t have a presence.”
Faircity properties will
remain under the Faircity
brand and trademark to
allow for easy recognition
and business continuity.
Mark says the travel
trade has supported
Faircity for many years,
and he hopes with this
acquisition that this
partnership will grow.
The acquisition of
these properties adds
512 rooms to Premier’s
existing portfolio of more
than 2 000 rooms. The
portfolio now consists
of 24 properties in
Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal,
Mpumalanga and the
Eastern and Western Cape.
The Premier Splendid Inn
in Bloemfontein is due to
open in September, as
well as two new hotels
in Umhlanga early next
year.
