LUFTHANSA has published
its Direct Connect fares on
the GDS, although these
fares cannot be booked on
the GDS and will only be
accessible through Direct
Connect.
Dr André Schulz, gm
Lufthansa Group Southern
Africa, says: “As GDSs
provide an important role
in the communication
of changes in pricing
strategies, we want to give
the customer sight of our
dynamic and target-grouporiented
fare structure
approach that provides
the agent an advantage
in product, price and
distribution.”
He adds that the
discounts across the
fare classes will be in
addition to the existing
€16 (R249) GDS fee
discount for Direct Connect
customers. Lufthansa and
Tourvest announced a
Direct Connect partnership
in March this year and
André says Lufthansa
Group South Africa is
currently in discussions
with a number of major
TMCs interested in
adopting the Direct
Connect technology.
