THE ANC has stepped up
and agreed to repay the
ANC Women’s League’s debt
to Atlantis Corporate Travel,
which amounts to more
than R7 million, including
interest, a representative
from the company told TNW.
A court order issued in
mid-2017 instructed the
African National Congress
Women’s League (ANCWL)
to pay Atlantis roughly
R6,3 million in travel debt.
Since then asset seizure
and a January auction with
insufficient attendance has
failed to repay this debt.
A number of meetings
were held during last month
and an initial payment of
roughly R100 000 has been
made to cover legal fees,
with a monthly payment
plan expected to commence
during May.
The representative
explained that they were
optimistic that the ANC
would follow through on
this commitment but added
that a Warrant of Execution
had also already been
issued. This means that
should the ANC fail to meet
these repayments, Atlantis
Corporate Travel would then
proceed to seize ANCWL
immovable property in order
to repay the debt.
