Cape Town Tourism, in partnership with Vodacom Business Western Region, has been hosting a three-part virtual Women in Tourism SMME Workshop, with the aim of empowering and inspiring female entrepreneurs in the tourism industry.
“With programmes such as the SMME Workshop for women, Cape Town Tourism is giving its members another opportunity to learn new ideas and connect with likeminded individuals,” says the City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, Alderman James Vos.
The three workshop sessions focus on current industry issues and provide practical tips on digitisation, marketing, and more.
The theme is #FurtherTogether, with speakers from tourism and tech companies like Facebook, Pine3 Marketing, Amazon Web Services, Vodacom, and more.
“With this event, we aim to empower women in tourism to grow in their careers for the benefit of their relevant businesses but also, in turn, for the benefit of our communities. We want to give them the tools and motivation that they need to grow their business during these tough times and beyond,” says Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism.
The first workshop (‘Tourism current issues and insights – How do we overcome together?’) took place on August 4. Readers can watch the recording of the workshop here.
The second, comprising three practical sessions, took place on August 11. It can be viewed here.
The final workshop – ‘The future is digital’ – will run from 10h00-12h00 on August 18. Viewers can register to watch here.
