Travel insurers are allowing free amendments to policyholders who opt to postpone their trips due to COVID-19.
Travellers who postpone trips, where the duration of the trip remains unchanged, can change the dates of travel on their insurance policy certificate at no cost once they have rebooked.
Head of Travel Insurance, Jason Veitch, says TIC is offering to amend policy dates free, and to honour the same rates (for the same trip duration) for clients choosing to amend bookings rather than cancel. He says the cancellation cover would still apply for the new policy issued.
Hollard Travel Insurance is also waiving fees relating to COVID-19 booking amendments.
If travellers have claimed against their policy, this is not applicable, says Bryte Travel Insurance. In this case, they must purchase a new policy.
