CONSTRUCTION resumed last week on Afrisun's temporary Sugar Mill Casino in KwaZulu Natal after workers downed tools in December until the casino development was given the official go-ahead.
Afrisun director, Rob Bolton, told Travel Now that construction had started in October last year but was halted again in December.
However, since building started again last week, the casino development has reached roof height and all indications are that it will be ready for its scheduled February 2001 opening.
Bolton says the temporary casino will feature 800 slots machines, 26 gaming tables, a buffet restaurant and a coffee shop.
"It is an easy 16 kilometres drive from central Durban and four kilometres from Umhlanga Rocks."
According to him, the temporary casino will operate for 28 months after its February opening until the permanent Sibaya Resort and Entertainment World casino resort opens near Umdloti.
