SAA Voyager members will not be allowed to redeem miles until July 31, and there is a possibility that this could be extended further.
An email notice on May 9, says the reason for this decision was unexpected demand.
Voyager says the ongoing travel restrictions and reduced flights have limited the options for members to use their miles. As a result, there has been a significant increase in redeeming miles for essential goods and e-hailing services, and this has made it difficult for Voyager to sustain operations due to limited availability for members to redeem miles and restricted resources for fulfilment.
Miles will now be valid until March 31, 2021 and members’ tier status will be extended to December 31, 2021. Once Voyager’s future is finalised, it will communicate more details on qualifying thresholds for the retention of tier statuses and other details.
The expiry date of qualifying companion tickets for Nedbank co-branded credit and cheque cardholders will apparently be extended by an additional (one) year.
