SAA has upgraded its
codeshare agreement
with Mango, improving
interline connectivity and
allowing agents to ticket
through-fares on SA coded
flights.
Customers on Mangooperated flights are now able
to through-check not only on
SAA-operated flights but also
on third sector, SA-coded
flights of other carriers (as
long as the first connection
is operated by SAA). For
example, agents can now sell
through-fares on a Mango
Durban to Johannesburg
flight, connecting to an SAA
Johannesburg to London
flight, connecting to an Air
Canada-operated flight.
SAA customers are now
also able to through-check
on Mango-operated flights to
SAA franchise partners, SA
Express and SA Airlink.
SA codeshare customers
travelling on multiple
sectors will be able to
through-check their baggage
to the final destination.
Additional benefits of the SAA
codeshare agreement include
SAA Voyager earn and burn
opportunities. Eligible SAA
Voyager Premium members
are also able to access the
SAA lounge when travelling
on SA-coded Mango flights.
“The SA-coded customer
is fully able to benefit from
the SAA customer journey
when travelling on Mangooperated flights, and are able
to benefit from the schedule
and frequency of the whole
SAA group of flights,” says
SAA spokesperson, Tlali Tlali.
Any improvement on
through-check is good news,
says Melissa Phillips, owner
of Sure Map Travel in Durban.
“However, if the availability of
lower booking class seats on
these flights stays as is we
won’t be selling much,
as generally the GDS is
only showing availability in
higher booking classes,”
she says.
