Paris’s iconic Eiffel Tower has raised its entrance fee ahead of the Olympic Games this month from €29,10 (R564) to €35 (R678).
The Paris Municipality said the 20% hike was necessary to cover the maintenance of the landmark, as it had not financially recovered from the COVID pandemic and the subsequent drop in tourism.
The tower was due to undergo a facelift that would change the colour of the landmark from grey beige to yellow brown. The work was planned to be completed for the Olympics, but is four years behind schedule.
