Nigeria has started to streamline its visa application process and hopes to cut wait times to 48 hours from the current average time of two weeks.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the visa processes had become cumbersome and were hindering the ease of doing business. Idris will meet with the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Finance, and other stakeholders to review the existing visa application process.
The government has allocated a four-week deadline to make the necessary adjustments that will speed up the issuing of visas.
“Investors and tourists coming into the country will find it a lot easier to come into the country, provided they follow laid-down processes,” said Idris, adding that, in the future, investors and tourists would be able to get a visa within 48 hours.
