The Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued updated health requirements and recommendations for individuals planning to travel to the country to perform Umrah in 2025.
All travellers, one year and older, from all countries, intending to perform Umrah, must be vaccinated against Meningococcal meningitis using one of two approved vaccines.
- Meningococcal quadrivalent (ACYW-135) polysaccharide vaccine received within the last three years and at least ten days before arrival, or;
- Meningococcal quadrivalent (ACYW-135) conjugated2 vaccine received within the last five years and at least ten days before arrival.
“Health authorities in the country of origin should ensure that the traveller receives the approved vaccine within the above validity period and clearly indicate the name, type, and date of administration on the traveller’s vaccination certificate. If the type of vaccine is not indicated on the certificate, the vaccine would be considered valid for three years only from the date of administration,” the Ministry says.
