The Victoria government has released plans for the new Melbourne Airport train station, on the city’s new airport rail line, earmarked to open in 2029.
The train will take travellers from Melbourne’s CBD to the airport in 30 minutes and will provide a ‘turn up and go’ service, with trains every 10 minutes. More than 30 stations across Melbourne – from as far away as Cranbourne and Pakenham – will have a direct connection to the airport via the Metro Tunnel.
It will also hit Sunshine Station, connecting airport-goers to Melbourne’s west and south-east and Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland.
