The downward trend in earnings in the industry finally appears to be reversing.
Although pathetically few are getting their full salary, that number has been dropping every month until the end of April this year when only 11% of a sample of over 400 readers were paid 100% of their salary. That number has increased by some 50% in May when 17% said they had received their full salary.
That is significantly more people on full salary than in any month this year.
The percentage of people receiving 0-20% of their normal salary fell from 42% in April to 36% in May.
The question we pose at the end of each month is: “What percentage of your salary were you paid last month?” In May, 444 people were surveyed.
Below are the figures for May and April.
