In anticipation of the release of the Barbie movie on July 21, the pinkest travel destinations and hotels are getting ready to gain traction among fans, according to euronews.com.
These include:
Riomaggiore, Italy
The colourful village in the Cinque Terre features many houses painted in salmon and rose, and it has just the right colours to grow more popular among Barbiecore travellers. With clifftop walking trails between villages, it provides a picturesque setting for Barbie-esque travel against a pink backdrop.
Wi-Ki Woo Hotel, Ibiza
The adults-only hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza, is a hot pink, with heart-shaped pool floats, fuchsia sun loungers, disco balls and rosy lights. Every evening there is a DJ set before the flamingo-pink Wi-gg-ly-Woo club is ceremoniously revealed at midnight.
Elafonissi, Crete
The most famous pink-sand beach at Elafonissi is one of Greece’s best tourist attractions. However, the blush colour is only revealed at specific tides, during certain seasons and light conditions, and can be seen best at the water’s edge. Could this become a Barbiecore tourism site?
Rua Nova do Carvalho, Portugal
Colloquially known as the ‘Pink Street’, this photo-worthy attraction is located in the Cais do Sondré district, in what was once Lisbon’s red light district. The fuchsia-coloured street is the centre of the city’s nightlife with its bars and restaurants featuring open-air art exhibits. It’s pink enough for Barbie fans!
Green Citadel, Germany
This curiously named complex in Magdeburg is actually salmon-pink. The antique apartments sit above a row of shops, restaurants, a kindergarten and a hotel. They make a great backdrop for a selfie.
Shibazakura, Japan
Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park hosts the annual Fuji Shibazakura Festival mid April to early July, beside Lake Motosuko to celebrate the massed Shibazakura flowers also known as “Pink Moss” that grow across the vast field beside the lake. Stalls sell pots of Shibazakura, pink moss-themed souvenirs, food and local produce. It’s a festival of Barbie-pink.
Hotel W, Mexico City
The Hotel W, in Polanco, has opened a limited edition Barbie diner on its first floor. It features décor inspired by the movie set, two themed menus with many pink dessert options and it provides many photo-opps. The limited edition diner will be available till August 20th.
