After being scheduled to appear in court last week Friday, February 23, Francois Swart, also known in South Africa as the Holiday Swindler, has had his court hearing at the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court postponed until March 22.
In the interim, complainants Pamela-Anne Dolan and her partner, Andrew van Heerden, have revealed that their holiday plans were scuppered after the Fourways-based travel agent allegedly made off with R139 000 of their money that they had paid towards a trip to Maldives last year October.
“In September, I suddenly got an email from the Priority Escapes offices saying that he had closed his business and our holiday was now cancelled. I then went on the internet and looked for the Priority Escapes website, and it was no longer there,” Dolan told News24.
More complaints are believed to be stacking up, and several other people have come forward to share their stories of how they were allegedly swindled out of their holiday savings.
