Holland America Line (HAL) launched a poster design contest in February during its 150th anniversary celebrations this year, with a grand prize of a seven-day Alaska cruise for two.
Artists of all abilities could enter the poster design contest via HAL’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Posters could be either hand-drawn or digitally created.
A panel of Holland America Line executives and leaders chose Austin Thomas as winner of the competition.
His winning poster has been featured on the cruise line’s social media channels, and was displayed in the New York City cruise terminal on April 6 and 7, before Rotterdam embarked on its second 150th Anniversary Transatlantic crossing to the Netherlands.
HAL’s 150-year commemorations include two anniversary transatlantic crossings aboard Rotterdam, the launch of De Lijn Gin and a limited-edition Pilsner beer, menus that showcase the cruise line’s 150-year history, the low alcoholic beverage price of US$0,75 (R13,5) during Throwback Happy Hours, a new partnership with The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and 150th anniversary merchandise.
Holland America cruises may be booked locally through Development Promotions.
